We are seeking a friendly, outgoing, and experienced Waking Night Residential Childcare Support Worker to join our professional team. Candidates must have a minimum of 12 months relevant experience and ideally possess a Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People's Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
Responsibilities:
1. Work a 55-hour week on a rota of 5 nights on and 5 nights off. Additional shifts may be required during illness or crisis.
2. Promote the welfare of the children as defined in the Children Act 1989.
3. Attend weekly staff meetings/supervision sessions of 1½ hours when not on duty.
4. Participate in required training.
5. Attend the young people's holiday, usually for one week in summer.
6. Arrive on time, read the handover book, and receive shift information from the team.
7. Understand the young people's feelings to assess and meet their ongoing needs.
8. Maintain consistency in settling young people at bedtime.
9. Encourage hygiene routines such as brushing teeth and bathing.
10. Record any disturbances during the night and hand over to the next shift.
11. Complete the Daily Register and Fridge/Freezer records.
12. Monitor young people's movements and record in the night log.
13. Conduct weekly fire alarm tests and record in the fire log book.
14. Complete and sign nightly/weekly task sheets.
15. Set the breakfast table, promote healthy eating, and clear after breakfast.
16. Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.
17. Prioritize the safety and security of the young people above other tasks.
