Description
Key responsibilities of the Audit Manager:
* Leading the planning, execution, and completion of complex audit assignments, including group audits and owner‑managed businesses (OMBs)
* Taking full ownership of audit engagements from initial planning through to completion
* Acting as the primary on‑site client contact, managing queries and building strong relationships
* Producing high‑quality, review‑ready audit files to minimise Partner and Director involvement
* Managing team resources and capacity to ensure efficient delivery of audit assignments
* Supporting, mentoring, and developing junior team members
* Acting as a technical point of contact, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP
* Working across a flexible portfolio tailored to expertise (audit‑focused or mixed including statutory accounts and tax)
Profile
A successful Audit Manager should have:
* ACA or ACCA qualified
* Proven experience at Audit Manager or Assistant Manager level within practice
* Strong technical background in auditing, particularly within owner‑managed businesses
* Experience leading audits and managing teams
* Ambitious, proactive, and keen to play a role in shaping a growing department
* Comfortable working in a hands‑on role within a dynamic firm environment
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites (including occasional overnight stays)
