Senior Occupational Therapist
An opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join the Trafford North Community Mental Health Team. The team consists of nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, STR workers, psychology staff and psychiatrists and offers a service to individuals experiencing complex mental health needs in a community setting. The post holder will work as an occupational therapist in the team and will support the team in role of duty worker on a rota basis.
The post holder will be a Senior Occupational Therapist for the Trafford North Locality Adult Community Mental Health Team based at Crossgate House in Sale. They will carry out evidence based occupational and employment assessments and write reports of a high standard, which highlight how biological, sociological and psychological factors interact to create barriers to the satisfactory participation on an individual service user in their valued life goals. They will define and deliver therapeutic intervention plans, including OT recovery groups, and recommendations aimed to improve participation and recovery in life roles.
Responsibilities
* To manage a defined caseload of service users, of a working age, withing the CMHT, with complex mental health and physical needs in the community, using evidenced based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate OT Interventions and record all interventions, and in line with relevant clinical pathway as outlined within CMHT operational procedure
* To develop and provide evidence based OT recovery groups for complex service users aimed at enabling participation and recovery in valued life roles
* The post holder will receive supervision and support from the team manager, senior practitioners and the clinical specialist OT in the assessment, analysis case formulation and treatment planning
* To provide OT professional advice for MDT and support staff
* To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of the OT CMHT service within the designated team, taking responsibility for defined projects
* To regularly supervise OT students on fieldwork placement
* Following the occupational case formulation, the post holder will make recommendations to access support from appropriate professionals and agencies, or deliver OT interventions with the aim of gaining or restring a balance of occupational and/or life roles for the individual
* To participate in the duty rota and out of hours rota operated by the Community Mental Health Team
