We are seeking a passionate and versatile Chef de Partie to join our culinary team, responsible for up to 120 boarders' breakfast and dinner, as well as a vibrant café serving 400 sixth form students during the day.
Job Description
As a Chef de Partie, you will:
* Assist the Head Chef in all aspects of food preparation, production, and service.
* Ensure the quality and presentation of all dishes meet the school's standards and expectations.
* Supervise and train kitchen staff and assistants, ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation procedures.
* Contribute to menu planning and development, considering dietary restrictions, nutritional guidelines, and seasonal ingredients.
* Oversee stock control and ordering to maintain inventory levels while minimizing waste.
* Maintain a clean, organised kitchen environment following health and safety regulations.
* Support administrative tasks such as scheduling, budgeting, and record-keeping of food costs and inventory.
* Stay updated on industry trends, culinary techniques, and new ingredients to enhance menu offerings.
* Foster a positive working environment through leadership, effective communication, and teamwork.
Qualifications and Skills
* GCSE level education or above
* NVQ qualification or equivalent
* Good craft skills background
* Progressive experience in catering
* Food Hygiene Certificate
* Passion for food and customer service
* Strong organisational and planning skills
* Ability to work independently and proactively
* Effective communication and delegation skills
* Creative flair in menus and food presentation
* Confident, lively, and approachable personality
* Respectful and able to gain respect, suitable to work with children

Rate of pay: £28,000 per annum
Hours: 40 hours/week, 5 days over 7, Weeks: 48 weeks/year
