£54,250.56 per annum
Shift pattern: 6am – 6pm / 6pm – 6am (Four on, four off rotation)
Location: Frog Island, Rainham
In this role you will form part of our engineering team onsite, contributing to the internal and external preventative, reactive, and corrective maintenance work on plant equipment. Our goal is to continuously improve machine reliability, availability, and capacity to manufacturing standards.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Provide a reactive and proactive, highly skilled maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure.
* Liaise with external contractors for reactive maintenance and schedule planned service maintenance; request and check RAMS, induct personnel, provide permits to work, and oversee contractor works onsite to ensure work is carried out safely.
* Follow and complete planned maintenance (PMs, RMs & CMs) via a Computer Maintenance Management System, and oversee adherence and timely completion of work.
* Actively participate in projects, continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principles by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices, and processes.
* Assist in the administration of the CMMS (Piranha) to ensure its accuracy at all times.
* Maintain basic PC skills for Excel, email, and shift handover documentation; training will be given on the finer points.
Key Qualifications
* Multi-skilled maintenance engineer (Mechanical & Electrical) qualifications.
* IOSH – Managing Safely.
* Previous maintenance experience in a heavy industrial or waste environment (3‑5 years).
* Familiarity and experience with continuous improvement (CI) – Lean, Kanban, OEE, TOC, and other activities.
* Knowledge of various mechanical drive arrangements, including simplex, duplex, chain, belt, gearboxes, and fluid drive transmission equipment.
* A background in fabrication & welding would be advantageous (Mig, Tig, Arc process and use of oxy-acetylene flame cutting equipment).
