Community Housing Assistant

North Yorkshire region, hybrid working from home with community and sites visits

Permanent, full time (37.5 hpw), Monday to Friday and core office hours expected with some flexibility.

Salary £24,638 per annum and great benefits including Health Cash Plan

This is a great job opportunity for a Community Housing Assistant to join Home Groups awesome housing team in Yorkshire. As our Community Housing Assistant (CHA) you’re part of the face-to-face customer support to our communities. If you like variety, meeting and supporting customers, and want to develop a career in housing, then this is the perfect job for you!

Typical day as our Community Housing Assistant

1. You’ll support our housing managers to look after their patches and through this, help us to improve our local neighbourhoods.
2. You’ll support with tasks such as estate inspections, engaging and meeting with contractors on site, liaising with local authorities.
3. You'll lead on areas of work such as Compliance appointments, tenancy reviews and obtaining quotes and orders for estate needs.
4. You’ll carry out and record the routine safety and compliance checks in our buildings and communities.
5. Using Salesforce and Power BI, you’ll assist with management of admin, updating tenancy records and communicating with customers and colleagues.
6. Through visibility, engagement with customers and proactivity on our estates, you’ll really get to get to know our communities.

You bring

7. A “can do” positive attitude, you’re proactive and well organised, able to work on your initiative.
8. The ability to work alone on tasks as well as part of a team, with an eye for detail, and a consistent, methodical and accurate approach to tasks.
9. A real passion for delivering excellent customer service and a genuine desire to help your customers.
10. Confidence working collaboratively with colleagues in other parts of the business and external partners
11. An understanding of housing management, housing law and universal credit would be ideal, but they’re not deal breakers!
12. The ability to use technology to navigate our systems and update customer records
13. An appreciation that this is a role where you’ll spend much of your time lone working in our local estates.

Due to limits on our current certificates of sponsorship, we are not able to offer sponsorship to external candidates for this role. This remains under regular review.

Job details

14. This is a hybrid role and in an average week, you’ll spend 2-3 days working around our communities in Yorkshire.
15. Although you’ll spend time in our neighbourhoods, we do get together occasionally for team meetings across the region.
16. There may be some flexibility to adapt your working hours, do let us know about this when you meet us at the interview.
17. We mainlywork Monday to Friday and work occasional evenings to meet with customers. The great news is that you’ll be able to shape your own diary.
18. To get from A to B, you’ll need a vehicle insured for business purposes, and can claim back mileage.
19. You’ll need a Standard DBS check done and we pay for that.
