This role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to work as part of our UK R&D team and experience the dynamics of a busy technical engineering environment. What You Will Be Doing? We are seeking an degree qualified electrical engineer to join the Components R&D team based at our Components facility in Wrexham. The successful candidate will join the dynamic team who design, test and support a range of low and medium voltage cable accessories. You will be responsible for the design, test and prototyping of new products to compliment Prysmian's global product ranges that helps facilitate the energy transition. You will also coordinate the onsite electrical laboratory, its processes and the improvement of lab facilities. Main duties include: Plan and manage the new product and type test programmes in conjunction with the onsite testing engineer. To undertake development and testing activities on a range of low and medium voltage accessories. Working as an integral part of the team to help it achieve its objectives of new product design, testing and customer approval. Develop cutting edge prototype products for testing as part of the new product development process and investigating any results. Provide customer support on the current electrical products such as joints and terminations. Involvement in the process of launching a product including manufacturing processes, bills of materials and costing. Undertake benchmarking exercises and include feedback in ongoing or new product development activities. Coordinate product type testing in line with British and international standards within the laboratory in Wrexham and external test houses. Investigates customer product failures both on site and in the laboratory. Responsible for the safe running, procedures and electrical safety of the Components test laboratory Identifies areas of improvement in equipment and processes to optimise the efficiency and safety of the lab. Who We Are Looking For A degree or higher in electrical engineering or similar discipline. Good practical skills within a laboratory or workshop environment. Experience in a test or installation environment working with MV or HV cables would be beneficial but not essential. Knowledge or experience of control systems and data logging would be advantageous. Strong analytical skills to assimilate and review technical data. Experience with managing design or engineering projects. Strong analytical skills to assimilate and review technical data. Experience or understanding of working to British and international standards. A knowledge of Autodesk Inventor would be advantageous. Due to the location of the factory, it would be advantageous to have a full UK driving licence and own transport. Personal Characteristics Self motivated and driven individual.
