An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Registered Nurse to join the District Nursing Service covering East Dorset. Full-time hours are available within our Crane Valley team, and full or part-time hours up to 37.5 hours per week within the Ferndown team.
The role of the Community Staff Nurse has evolved to focus on caring for complex patients in their home environments. Key skills include complex wound management, palliative and end-of-life care, medicines management, IV drug administration, and holistic assessment and care planning.
Training is available within the Trust for successful applicants. If you seek a change, want to work autonomously in a challenging environment, and are interested in career development, community nursing could be ideal for you. The team collaborates with local hospices, complex care nurses, health and social care coordinators, specialist nurses, and therapists, supported by the Intermediate Care Service and community hospitals for patient rehabilitation.
Applicants requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship are ineligible to apply.
Responsibilities include caring for patients at home requiring nursing care such as diabetes management, complex wound care (including compression bandaging and dopplers), IV management, end-of-life care, injections, and pressure area care. The role involves providing high-quality, person-centered care that respects safety, privacy, and dignity.
You will undertake patient assessments, develop care plans as part of the multidisciplinary team, advise patients and carers, and implement health improvement programs across various settings. Supervision, mentorship, and clinical support to students and junior staff are also part of the role.
An Enhanced DBS check is required, which the Trust will cover. Applicants enrolled in the DBS update service can present a valid certificate.
