Job Overview
An advanced practitioner cover for maternity leave (0.8 FTE) for 1 year. You will work Monday to Friday flexibly as part of the hydrocephalus team, supporting care in inpatient and outpatient settings for adult and paediatric CSF disorders, especially normal pressure hydrocephalus.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver clinical duties within the hydrocephalus service, including daily patient reviews and physical examination.
* Order and analyse diagnostic tests, performing investigations and making appropriate referrals.
* Provide safe guidance via the hydrocephalus advice line and take clear history from patients.
* Maintain organisational and administrative tasks and communicate with external services and primary care to optimise patient care.
Qualifications & Person Specification
Education and training
* Degree or diploma in Nursing or Allied Health Profession, registered with the NMC / HCPC.
* Established assessment and clinical reasoning skills within scope of practice.
* Experience working as part of a clinical multidisciplinary team.
* Problem solving ability and work to varying priorities.
* Teaching and advising professional staff/patients/carers.
Desirable criteria
* PACR, PADRAP and Non-Medical Prescribing modules.
* MSc Advanced Practice.
* Extensive experience caring for neurosurgical patients and knowledge of CSF pathway, treatments and surgical procedures for Hydrocephalus patients.
* Autonomous undertaking of clinical skills associated with an Enhanced Practice role.
Application Information
The successful applicant will normally commence at the minimum of the scale unless they have previous NHS service at the same band. Progression through the scale is by annual increments.
