Main Purpose of the Role
* To support colleagues and business processes with their IT requirements while acting as a deputy to the IT Manager. The role is responsible for ensuring that the organisation’s IT infrastructure is modern, secure, reliable, and efficient.
Key Responsibilities
IT Infrastructure
* Design, deploy, and manage servers and related services from vendors such as Dell and HP.
* Design, deploy, and maintain networks and cloud services (e.g., Microsoft Azure).
* Deploy and manage virtualisation technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.
* Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions.
* Manage and optimise storage solutions including SAN and NAS systems.
* Develop and maintain infrastructure automation scripts and tools.
* Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
* Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime.
* Assist in the development and enforcement of IT policies and procedures.
* Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance the IT infrastructure.
IT Operations
* Monitor and maintain laptops, peripherals, and display equipment across the business.
* Provide technical support and guidance to end users.
* Monitor and maintain system performance, availability, and security.
* Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
* Collaborate with colleagues to support business applications and services.
* Ensure compliance with company security policies and industry best practices.
* Maintain documentation for infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures.
* Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
Role Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in IT Infrastructure or IT Operations roles.
* Relevant certifications such as:
* CompTIA Network+
* Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator
* Strong knowledge of server and network administration.
* Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
* Proficiency with virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
* Understanding of ITIL processes and best practices
