Outpatient Clerk - Contact Centre

The closing date is 29 January 2026

We are looking to recruit a contact center call handler to work in the Main Outpatients Contact Centre of this busy teaching hospital.

This post will be located at Wythenshawe (International House).

The successful candidates will join a well established, friendly team, committed to providing a quality service to our patients. Previous clerical experience in a hospital environment would be an advantage but is not essential, as training will be given.

Main duties of the job

Handle inbound calls from patients, providing clear information, support, and guidance.

Liaise professionally with medical secretaries to coordinate patient care and administrative tasks.

Collaborate with the Waiting List Manager to support efficient scheduling.

Manage inbound enquiries from GP surgeries, ensuring accurate communication and timely resolution.

Person Specification


Education/Qualifications

* GCSE Maths and English or equivalent qualifications to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills Or Successful completion of relevant NHS apprenticeship programme
* ECDL or other relevant IT qualifications
* NVQ 2 in Customer Service


Experience

* Evidence of working as part of a team as well as in isolation
* Confidence in dealing with professional groups
* Evidence of handling difficult circumstances, e.g customer complaints
* Knowledge of NHS administrative procedures


Skills

* Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
* Self Motivated and productive without constant supervision


Knowledge

* Understanding importance of confidentiality
