Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to elevate your career and join the Infection Prevention and Control Team at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Trust. This vacancy is open to internal and external staff and we welcome applications from experienced RGN, RMN, LD and District Nursing colleagues. Based at Darwen Health Centre, the position will cover visits across the LSCFT footprint. Full training and support will be provided, and there is the opportunity to undertake an infection prevention qualification if desired.


Responsibilities

* Provide advice on IPC issues relating to IPC practices and patient care in all wards and community settings, and record this advice on electronic record keeping systems.
* Undertake IPC audits within patient environments and community clinic settings.
* Deliver training in a bespoke way according to service needs and maintain the IPC Link worker role.
* Maintain a clinical presence within the Trust by being highly visible in clinical areas and undertaking visits when alerted to outbreaks, patient infections, or compromised cleanliness standards.
* Demonstrate a keen interest in infection prevention and support all grades of staff to maintain high standards of infection prevention and control within the organisation.
* Motivate others, prioritise and work in a methodical manner; demonstrate computer literacy, excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and show success in achieving objectives and managing change.


Qualifications and Skills

* Registration as a nurse (RGN, RMN, LD or District Nursing) with an interest in infection prevention and control.
* Ability to motivate, prioritise, and work methodically.
* Computer literate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care. Specialist provision includes inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care. The Trust also provides physical health and well-being services in the community with partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.
