Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist
Location: Underley Gardens School, Kirkby Lonsdale, Lancashire LA6 2DZ
Salary: Up to £53,200 pro rata (dependent on experience)
*Please note – basic grade SALT offers from £33,000+, Specialist from £39,500+ & Highly specialist from £48,000+*
Hours: 24 hours per week, 3 days 8.30am – 4.30pm
Contract: Permanent (Term time only, or flexibility around full-time contract can be discussed based on your personal circumstances)

The Role
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in-house clinical team at Underley Gardens School. Working with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, guiding your practice within an education setting and clarifying roles and responsibilities while considering the requirements of governing and professional bodies. You will be responsible for holding a Speech and Language Therapy caseload with support from your designated clinical supervisor and site lead, and you will contribute to staff training and consultation as required. This post would suit a resilient, creative and enthusiastic individual.

Location: Underley Gardens School, Kirkby Lonsdale – part of the Options Autism brand, an independent specialist day school for pupils aged 5–19.
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* HCPC registered
* 1–2 years’ experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT in a similar setting
* Experience engaging with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice
* Experience of multidisciplinary working in various settings
* Experience communicating with/working with families, relatives and carers
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practice
* Good relationship building, analytical and judgmental skills
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Good time management and organizational skills
* Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
* Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention types, and how to formulate support plans
* Knowledge of legislation and implications for clinical practice and professional management
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications relevant to the client group
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication
* Understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication
* Full driving licence and access to a car (highly desirable)
