Senior Town Planner - Policy
Due to a significant increase in planning policy project wins and new opportunities, we are looking to recruit a senior planner. You will join a great team with an interesting and diverse workload and opportunities to make the most of your abilities.
You will work on key planning policy projects, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and engaging directly with clients and stakeholders to secure successful planning outcomes. There will also be opportunities to work on infrastructure and development projects within the Planning team.
Location: based in London Aldgate Tower or other UK locations including Basingstoke, Bristol, Birmingham, Cambridge, Chesterfield, Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, and Plymouth. We operate a hybrid working model and the position is available full-time or part-time to suit individual circumstances.
What you’ll do
* Lead and assist on key planning policy projects, including policy and strategy development, coordination and delivery of local plan evidence studies, strategic growth studies, infrastructure strategies and other policy or strategy commissions.
* Offer strategic planning advice to clients and internal teams.
* Represent the organisation, developing and managing relationships with clients, local authorities and stakeholders through project work and networking events.
* Share technical knowledge and excellence.
* Ensure projects are delivered on budget and within programme timelines; coordinate multi-disciplinary teams as needed.
* Contribute to deliverables from the planning policy team and uphold quality assurance and health and safety principles.
* Contribute to business development, nurture client relationships, and assist in preparing commercial tenders to secure new opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
* Significant relevant experience leading and contributing to planning policy and strategy development in a consultancy or public sector setting.
* Degree in Town Planning or related discipline; membership of RTPI or working towards membership, or equivalent professional body.
* Client focus with strong interpersonal skills and collaborative approach; existing relationships with clients and local authorities are desirable.
* Business development mindset with experience in work winning and developing client relationships.
* Ability to produce high-quality technical reports and communicate effectively; ability to work independently and under pressure.
