An exciting opportunity for an ambitious experienced Design Coordinator to join Tetra Tech’s successful and versatile team. This is a unique chance to be part of the growing Design Management team working on diverse and interesting projects.
Reporting directly to the Technical Director for Design Management, you will lead and manage Tetra Tech’s design consultants and subconsultants on various projects. Your focus will be on delivering projects within the Midlands and Southern regions as well as the wider UK. With support from the Design Manager, you will liaise with the project controls team to manage the design's commercial aspects and align risks with outcomes. You will also lead technical risk management and mitigation efforts, working on large, multidisciplinary projects in sectors like defence, science, nuclear, and government property.
Pre-Contract, Work Winning, and Tenders
* Assist the Design Manager and bid/project teams in supporting bid processes, coordinating multidisciplinary design inputs.
* Help formulate fee proposals and proposal documents as required.
* Ensure compliance with Tetra Tech’s Project Lifecycle governance at project opportunity outset.
* Develop and manage the Project Execution Plan with discipline leads, including design deliverables and timelines.
Live Projects
* Support the Design Manager in managing multidisciplinary design teams to produce coordinated solutions within the project’s scope, schedule, and budget.
* Assist in delivering accurate and viable design information timely, reviewing and challenging received information.
* Facilitate workshops to ensure full coordination of design solutions and effective implementation.
* Conduct design risk management reviews and contribute to the project risk register.
* Produce progress reports as needed.
* Ensure compliance with the Project Lifecycle and the Project Execution Plan throughout each design stage.
Financial and Reporting
* Coordinate design processes within the agreed commercial scope.
* Actively manage project risks and mitigate proactively.
* Understand and manage project contracts and variations.
* Handle change control processes to maintain project financial health.
* Assist with project forecasting, payments, and invoicing.
Systems and Quality
* Support the design process to ensure compliance with regulations and obtain necessary approvals.
* Coordinate information to meet the design programme.
Controls
* Monitor and support the implementation of project-specific design management processes.
* Ensure effective document control aligned with procedures.
* Coordinate with consultants and third parties.
* Lead or support design coordination meetings and workshops as needed.
* Participate in client review meetings, documenting actions and decisions.
About You
* Previous experience as a Design Coordinator preferred.
* Enthusiastic and professional approach.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strong health and safety awareness.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Eligible for security clearance (minimum SC level).
