Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Trained CfD Counsellor to join our NHS Derbyshire Talking Therapies service. This hybrid role is based mainly in Chesterfield, with occasional work at various locations across Derbyshire, including Derby.
Main duties of the job
As a valued member of a multi‑disciplinary team, you will be an autonomous practitioner operating within a supportive framework that includes high‑quality supervision, line manager support and clinical leads.
As an accredited counsellor with a Talking Therapies qualification, you will deliver counselling to clients on a range of issues such as low mood, depression and anxiety. Your recovery and outcome rates will reflect your ability to build strong therapeutic relationships and achieve positive outcomes for clients.
Job responsibilities
- Work predominantly from Chesterfield and, on occasion, perform duties across other locations in Derbyshire.
- Provide counselling services Monday to Friday, 8 am–8 pm, with at least one late shift per week (12 pm–8 pm).
- Deliver high‑quality individual and couples counselling, maintaining professional and ethical standards.
- Participate in regular supervision sessions and support from your line manager and clinical leads.
About you
- Hold a Diploma or degree in Counselling from a recognised course that meets BACP (or equivalent) accreditation requirements.
- Be accredited by at least one of the following bodies: BACP (membership alone is insufficient), NCS (membership alone is insufficient), UKCP or IPT UK.
- Possess one of the following NICE‑compliant qualifications: Counselling for Depression, Couple Therapy for Depression or Interpersonal Psychotherapy (the latter requires registration with IPT UK).
- Have experience working within a primary care mental health service.
- Have evidence of working with people experiencing common mental health problems such as anxiety or depression.
- Maintain a good record of Continuing Professional Development and wish to continue developing professionally.
- Be familiar with the IAPT and stepped‑care model.
