Murphy is recruiting for a Site Engineering Lead to work with Energy Team on the SSE ASTI Project. Our business is known for its extensive in-house expertise, experience, and drive to innovate within the industry to create value for customers. We support transmission and distribution projects in four countries to help ensure energy security for decades to come. We offer design, construction and commissioning services and deliver Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) projects for regulated and private customers in conventional power and energy transition markets.

A day in the life of a Murphy Site Engineering Lead includes implementing the Better Engineered strategic objective, leading engineering initiatives, driving engineering innovation for clients, and managing the engineering capability, policies and procedures. You will also support careers and development, manage professional qualifications with the learning & development team, contribute as the technical leader in bids, provide guidance on delivering engineering, design management and quality, manage resource allocation, and oversee consultant relationships. You will engage with universities and support graduate recruitment, ensure high-quality standards, and promote health, safety and environmental best practices with SHESQ.


Responsibilities

* Implement and promote the Better Engineered strategic objective within the business unit
* Lead and drive engineering initiatives within the business unit
* Promote and lead engineering innovation solutions to clients
* Manage and pursue performance improvement of the engineering capability and function; establish and implement best practice policies and procedures
* Carry out personal development reviews and manage careers and learning & development of engineering staff
* Work with engineering institutions and manage professional qualifications with the L&D team
* Support the business unit in work winning as the technical leader in bids, applying engineering, design management and quality
* Provide guidance to projects to deliver engineering, design management and quality
* Manage allocation of engineering resources to support the business
* Manage the consultant supply chain framework and relationships
* Keep management informed of activity and progress
* Recruit engineers and design managers to meet business needs
* Engage with universities and support annual graduate recruitment
* Maintain high quality standards and promote health, safety and environmental best practices


Qualifications

* Chartered Engineer
* Civil Engineering Degree
* Experience in a leadership role in the engineering function of a major UK contractor engaged in large civil engineering projects
* Exposure in a technical leadership role on major infrastructure projects and programmes
* Knowledge of project management processes through contract management
* Understanding of professional development processes for civil engineers
