Role Overview
This role operates within the Panasonic Europe Tax team which provides a range of tax shared services to Panasonic businesses in the European region.
The role holder will co-ordinate the provision of UK tax shared services to UK businesses of the Panasonic Group, including annual corporation tax compliance, VAT and supporting the UK tax aspects of business, organisational and systems change. This will involve active business partnering with relevant UK management, finance and commercial teams.
The role holder will develop and communicate group policies that relate to the UK tax group all UK businesses in the Panasonic group), co-ordinate the mandatory UK tax interactions between members of the UK tax group where UK tax laws operate on a group-wide basis, and support central UK tax group requirements (including but not limited to Senior Accounting Officer compliance, publication of the annual UK tax policy, etc.).
The role holder will also provide capacity for the broader European Tax Team, supporting specific requests from time to time. This will include publishing updates of tax laws on the intranet and supporting European VAT compliance.
How you will become part of the bigger picture..
Enable all UK businesses in the Panasonic group to remain tax compliant through submission of group compliance as follows:
1. Support the annual Senior Accounting Officer process from notification to reporting. Preparation of supporting documents for all UK companies relating to SAO obligations
2. Preparation of UK Group tax returns. This requires proactively liaising with all UK businesses to request necessary information and prepare returns for review.
3. Support in updating the published UK Group Tax Policy each year.
4. Support in communicating changes in UK tax law and HMRC practice to tax and business stakeholders.
UK Tax compliance and provisioning
Key activities:
5. Prepare annual corporation tax returns and computations and ensure timely submission to HMRC. (using Alphatax software)
6. Prepare year-end tax accounting workings and annual tax WING sheets and support year end tax rev
What you will bring to the picture...
Experience, Knowledge and skills:
7. Over 3 years of practical UK tax experience.
8. Microsoft Office proficiency, particularly Excel (pivot tables/vlookups etc), PowerPoint and Word.
9. SAP knowledge (S4Hana and R3)
10. Ability to operate under time pressure from time to time whilst following due process.
11. Good organisational skills are essential.
12. Strong administration skills.
13. Fluent business English.
14. Alphatax knowledge advantageous.
