Business Development Manager – Field Based

(Alcoholic beverage industry)


Location: North Devon & Somerset (ideal base: Taunton or surrounding areas)

Job Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Salary: £35,000–£40,000 + 15% annual bonus

About the Company:

Our client is a well-established, award-winning drinks producer with a strong regional presence and a commitment to natural, high-quality production.

Operating from a heritage site in Devon, they combine traditional craft with modern innovation to produce a portfolio of premium ciders.


Following continued growth and a successful hire within the team, they are now looking to appoint a high-calibre Sales Account Manager to take ownership of a key Southwest territory.


Role Summary:

You’ll be covering North Devon, Somerset, and some Dorset.


* North Devon is more established, existing accounts, relationship management, growing spend
* Somerset/Dorset is where you’ll be winning new business and building the patch out


This is a field-based sales position, you’ll be out 4-5 days a week, visiting clients and new prospects within pubs, bars, restaurants, wholesalers. You’ll be speaking to decision makers, building relationships, and getting product in front of people.

But most importantly, this role is about owning your patch and growing it.

They’re targeting around 20% growth, so it suits someone who’s commercially minded and enjoys the thrives in delivery new business as well as managing key clients.


Key Responsibilities:

* Manage and grow an existing portfolio of on-trade and wholesale accounts
* Identify and win new business across Somerset and surrounding areas
* Build strong, long-term relationships through regular face-to-face meetings
* Deliver product tastings, training, and brand education
* Negotiate listings, pricing, promotions, and visibility
* Drive territory performance in line with revenue and volume growth targets
* Monitor competitor activity and market trends
* Maintain accurate CRM reporting and pipeline management
* Represent the brand at events, activations, and occasional evening promotions


Required Skills & Experience:

* 2–3+ years field sales experience in alcoholic beverages.
* Strong understanding of the on trade / hospitality sector
* Experience selling craft beer, cider, or similar products highly desirable
* Proven ability to win new business and manage existing accounts
* Commercially driven with a track record of hitting or exceeding targets
* Highly organised, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently
* Willingness to travel extensively across the territory (4–5 days per week)
* Full UK driving licence


Package & Benefits:

* £35,000–£40,000 base salary (depending on experience)
* 15% annual bonus (paid March, pro rata in year one)
