Responsibilities
* Provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients attending day case procedures and Elective lounge admission.
* Assist with patient admission, preparation, and discharge under the supervision of registered general nurses.
* Take record and report clinical observations.
* Support patients with personal care, mobility, and comfort.
* Prepare patients for procedures, including changing gowns and completing basic checks.
* Assist with stock control and ensure equipment and supplies are available.
* Accompany/transport patients to and from theatres.
* Take and transfer specimens to pathology if required.
* Take part in the housekeeper role during staff absence.
* Support the safe admission, care and discharge of patients contributing to an efficient, patient-focused service with high standards of dignity, respect and safety.
* Work under the supervision of registered nurses, supporting safe admission and discharge processes.
* Take part in any other duties or responsibilities assigned by management, within the scope of the role.

One such example of this collaborative work is the launch of our HCA Academy, an IC system initiative between Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) and Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (MSEFT) to support the incoming Health Care assistant (HCA) workforce. The academy models a 'one workforce' cross system approach to onboarding, induction, education, and experience of Healthcare Assistants.
Successful candidates to this role will be able to access the additional support provided by the HCA Academy following their induction with MSEFT. This includes development opportunities, pastoral support, staff rewards and access to HCA exclusive resources such as the HCA App.
Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population. Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative. We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.
