Role: Senior Software Engineer (Go / Rust)
Day Rate: £450 – £500 per day
Duration: Initial 6 months
IR35: Outside IR35
Location: Fully remote (UK-based)
We are currently partnering with a growing technology consultancy that is supporting a well-known UK organisation on a large-scale engineering transformation programme, alongside a number of new greenfield initiatives. As part of this engagement, they are looking to bring in a high-calibre contract Senior Software Engineer to play a key role in delivering a brand-new product.
This is a high-impact opportunity to work on a truly greenfield project, reimagining an existing product from a completely new perspective. While details are limited, the software being developed will be widely used and have significant real-world impact making this a genuinely exciting piece of work.
⚠️ Please note: This is an urgent requirement. We are looking for engineers who can interview and start ASAP (short notice periods are fine, but anything beyond 3 - 4 weeks is unlikely to be suitable).
The Role
You will be embedded within a highly capable engineering team working on a greenfield product build, leveraging modern backend technologies across Go and Rust.
Key responsibilities include:
* Designing and building scalable backend systems using Go and/or Rust
* Contributing to the development of a brand-new product from the ground up
* Collaborating with senior and principal engineers on architecture and technical direction
* Writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code in a modern engineering environment
* Working within cloud-native environments and contributing to infrastructure design
* Implementing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
* Proactively identifying problems and proposing creative, effective solutions
* Contributing ideas and helping shape new approaches, rather than simply executing tasks
This is a hands-on engineering role within a fast-moving, delivery-focused environment.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking inquisitive, proactive engineers who enjoy solving complex problems and working with modern technologies.
Key experience includes:
* Strong experience in either Go or Rust
* Willingness and enthusiasm to learn the other language on the job (Go engineers learning Rust, or Rust engineers learning Go)
* Experience building backend systems in modern, cloud-based environments
* Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code, ideally with Terraform
* Experience working on complex or greenfield projects
We’re particularly interested in engineers who:
* Think creatively and approach problems from different angles
* Are comfortable working with ambiguity and shaping solutions
* Can operate independently and bring new ideas to the table
* Are adaptable, quick to learn, and open to new technologies and ways of working
Bonus experience:
* Commercial experience with both Go and Rust
* Exposure to highly scalable or high-usage platforms
* Experience working within consultancy or fast-paced delivery environments
