Our client, a leading water sector specialist are seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Design Engineer to work out of Paddington, London. This role plays a crucial part in supporting the design and delivery of mechanical systems in alignment with Thames Water’s operational and technical requirements. This role would be best suited to an individual with 3-5 years experience who is looking to further develop their career and received tailored support to become a competent multi-discipline engineer. Key Responsibilities: Produce and review mechanical design documentation including: Pumping systems Pipework layouts Filtration units Water and wastewater treatment systems Work closely with civil and electrical engineering teams to develop integrated solutions. Attend regular client meetings (e.g., weekly progress updates, hazard reviews). Support stakeholder communication and ensure design solutions align with client expectations. Engage with the supply chain for the specification and procurement of mechanical equipment. Conduct site visits for surveys and inspections. Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases as needed. Required Skills & Experience: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Experience in the design of mechanical systems within the water or wastewater sectors. Knowledge of UK water industry standards and practices (e.g., WIMES). Ability to interpret and produce P&IDs, layout drawings, and technical specifications. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration and client engagement. Full UK driving license (for site travel). Familiarity with 3D design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit)
