Our focus at the AO Plastics Recycling Plant is on creating industry-leading product streams for our customers through strong operational ownership of safety, environmental standards, quality, and productivity.
Responsibilities
* Serve as first-line manager (Supervisor or Shift Coordinator depending on qualifications) for a team of 5-7 members within an automated production line.
* Lead the team to ensure equipment and materials are available and operational capacity and throughput are maximized.
* Manage and evaluate team performance, fostering a culture of mutual trust, dignity, and respect. Oversee skills training, mentoring, development, and manage absenteeism and disciplinary issues.
* Ensure compliance with all company policies and processes. Promote continuous improvement focusing on safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, cost reduction, and morale.
* Conduct daily shift briefings, complete reports, monitor safety, and ensure all KPIs are met. Identify areas for improvement or challenges requiring support from project teams.
* Update production data using dedicated data capture and analysis software.
* Participate in problem-solving workshops, providing operational expertise to identify root causes and implement improvements.
* Attend daily operational review meetings, providing updates on performance, defects, and ongoing improvements.
* Lead and participate in 5S housekeeping, accident investigations, safety audits, and related activities.
Candidate Profile
* Experience supervising teams (minimum 2 years for Supervisor, 3 years for Shift Coordinator), preferably in an operational environment.
* ILM management qualifications (Level 2 - Supervisor, Level 3 - Shift Coordinator) or equivalent, with a desire to pursue further AO-supported qualifications.
* Enjoys high contact with team members and works alongside them when necessary (FLT training provided if required).
* Experience in processing, manufacturing, or similar environments.
* Strong communication skills.
* Logical and decisive thinker capable of providing effective solutions.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Formal qualifications in English and mathematics (e.g., GCSE or equivalent).
* Experience or qualifications in continuous improvement are advantageous.
