Please note that this vacancy may be withdrawn at any time should it be filled via the internal redeployment process Job Overview Applications are invited for the post of Dental Core Trainee in Othodontics/Oral Surgery. This is a full time position to start September 2026. The post is based at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, The Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran and Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny, South East Wales. Salary to be agreed dependent on experience. Main duties of the job The department provides a modern service for the whole of Gwent which has a population of approximately 700,000 people. The main oral & maxillofacial unit is based at the Royal Gwent Hospital (RGH). Acute take and major inpatient maxillofacial surgery are delivered at the Grange University Hospital (GUH). Additional outpatient and minor oral surgery clinics are held at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny. The unit at RGH has modern facilities which include 6 oral surgery consultation rooms and 3 orthodontic surgeries. On site is a day case suite and two minor oral surgery operating theatres. The laboratory houses 3 technicians and is situated in the heart of the department at RGH. It is fully equipped and has state of the art facilities for 3D patient planning and printing. The department undertakes a wide range of oral & maxillofacial surgical procedures, including dentoalveolar surgery, orthognathic surgery, surgery for orofacial malignancy, trauma and salivary gland surgery including sialendoscopy. This joint orthodontic and oral surgery DCT post will allow full access to both specialties of oral surgery/OMFS and orthodontics. The timetable will be split between the specialties allowing consultant-led training, including regular consultant clinics, joint clinics including orthognathic planning and hands on oral surgery training under general and local anaesthesia.
