Mental Health Support Worker

Based at St Ann's Hospital, the role supports Dorset’s 24/7 open‑access mental health crisis service, Connection. You will work by phone, listening to callers in crisis, delivering brief interventions, emotional support and signposting to local statutory and non‑statutory services.
Key Responsibilities
You will handle incoming telephone calls, providing compassionate, validating support and coaching to de‑escalate crisis situations. You will think flexibly, adapt to the situation, offer appropriate advice, and recognise safeguarding and safety concerns. You will communicate clearly with registered practitioners on shift and support the delivery and implementation of care plans.
A full induction and ongoing training and supervision are offered. Shifts include weekends, bank holidays and nights, with full and part‑time hours available. Flexible working discussions are welcomed, but this is an on‑site post with no remote working option.
Qualifications
* Experience in mental health support, particularly with crisis intervention, is preferred.
* Good working knowledge of local statutory and non‑statutory services.
* Ability to recognise safeguarding and safety concerns and to communicate clearly about escalation.
* Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required.
