About the Role
The successful candidate will work within the distinguished Clinical Negligence department, supporting a team of specialist lawyers in handling a diverse range of medical negligence claims. This role presents an outstanding opportunity to learn from highly experienced practitioners while developing specialised expertise in this complex legal field.
Clinical Negligence Paralegal Responsibilities:
* Establish and maintain communication with clients, medical experts, barristers, insurers, and other legal representatives
* Manage client file administration, including opening, closing, and archiving processes
* Utilise the firm's specialised IT systems and software packages effectively
* Serve as a key liaison between clients and legal professionals
* Address telephone and email inquiries appropriately
* Coordinate with the accounts department for invoice processing
* Maintain comprehensive case diaries and schedule appointments and conferences
* Obtain and organise medical records with meticulous attention to detail
* Create detailed chronologies of medical events and treatments
* Develop your role over time to include reviewing expert reports, drafting witness statements and court documents
* Observe and eventually participate in conferences with counsel and medical specialists
* Utilise external legal portals and maintain accurate case tracking spreadsheets
Clinical Negligence Paralegal Requirements:
* Previous legal work experience (clinical negligence background advantageous)
* Academic qualifications including three A-levels and a degree preferred but not essential
* Friendly and approachable demeanour with a proactive "can-do" attitude
* Strong organisational capabilities with exceptional attention to detail
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to work independently and under supervision as required
* Adaptability to varying task requirements
* Problem-solving aptitude with demonstrable examples from previous roles
* Genuine interest in clinical negligence law
* Strong IT proficiency and numerical literacy
* Collaborative approach to teamwork
