We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Support Worker to join our team here on New Forest ward. As a Healthcare Support Worker with Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary, professional team to assist registered nurses and senior clinical staff in planning, delivering, and evaluating care. Our staff are committed to providing high standards of individualised care while maintaining patients' privacy and dignity at all times. HCSWs will have the opportunity to learn new clinical skills in a supportive environment with an enthusiastic team focused on staff development, with potential for role progression.
Responsibilities include:
1. Observing, monitoring, and recording all vital signs using the NEWS2 assessment tool.
2. Providing personal care to patients to meet their hygiene needs.
3. Supporting patients with nutrition, feeding, and fluids.
4. Supporting patients with comfort measures.
5. Emptying catheter bags and recording output.
6. Working under supervision of a registered nurse to complete patient documentation.
7. Participating in discussions and projects that benefit the team, patients, and department.
8. Helping to facilitate the development of the service as part of the wider team.
9. Following Trust policies and protocols to ensure ward safety.

We are the Trust's Diabetic and Endocrinology (D&E) ward, offering opportunities to build and improve new ways of working within a larger, better team. You will learn about these specialties by working with Nurse specialist teams and the Consultant team. We support staff development and offer various progression routes. The role involves shift work, including nights, and covers a 24/7 period, including bank holidays and weekends. We promote a positive working environment prioritizing staff health and wellbeing.
