We're seeking enthusiastic Consultant Geriatricians to help shape innovative services across acute, community, and outpatient settings. Whether you're newly qualified or an experienced consultant, we offer flexible working, generous relocation support, and opportunities to develop sub‑specialty interests in areas like frailty, dementia, surgical liaison, and movement disorders.
You’ll be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team of 17 consultants, with access to award‑winning teaching programmes, strong academic links, and a beautiful location offering excellent quality of life.
Salary: £109,725 – £145,478 (depending on experience)
Location: Cross‑site – Musgrove Park Hospital (Taunton), St Margaret’s Hospice, Yeovil
Contract: Permanent – Full‑time or part‑time options available
PAs: 10 PAs (flexible job plans available)
Relocation Package: Up to £7,700

Main duties of the job
As a Consultant Geriatrician, you will:
* Deliver specialist geriatric care across inpatient and outpatient settings
* Lead and contribute to services such as:
o Front Door Frailty (ED, Acute Frailty Unit)
o Orthogeriatrics and osteoporosis care
o Parkinson's and movement disorders clinics
o Dementia and delirium services
o Surgical, oncogeriatric, and cardiology liaison
* Participate in 7‑day working and acute/frailty take
* Supervise and mentor junior doctors and multidisciplinary teams
* Engage in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement
* Develop sub‑specialty interests aligned with departmental needs
* Contribute to teaching, appraisal, and educational supervision (SPA time allocated)

Person Specification – Essential
* Full GMC registration with licence to practise
* Entry on GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT)
* Broad experience managing complex older patients
* Strong communication, leadership, and MDT collaboration skills
* Experience in teaching and supervision
Person Specification – Desirable
* Interest in frailty, dementia, falls, or community geriatrics
* Evidence of service development or clinical leadership
* Experience in research, audit, or simulation‑based teaching
