This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has an interest in Sustainable Travel and wants to work within a large and multi-faceted team to drive forward the council's sustainable travel agenda.
The work of the team includes the promotion of cycling, walking, car-sharing and public transport, the management of the council’s supported passenger transport network and the council’s extensive Public Rights of Way network.
About the Role
We are looking to recruit a Sustainable Travel Assistant.
The successful candidate will predominantly provide technical and administrative day to day support for the Passenger Transport strand of the team and as needed assist on other workstreams including Public Rights of Way, active travel and behaviour change projects.
The main duties for this role include:
1. Collate, check, input and maintain data/records.
2. To carry out tasks related to concessions use, such as surveys, the audit of transport records and the calculation of payments.
3. To reconcile and process orders, payments and invoices relating to concessions and other Highways and Transport functions.
4. Respond to queries from members of the public, elected Members and other interested parties in a constructive and professional manner.
5. General administration, booking venues/meeting rooms, producing agendas, and taking minutes, etc
About You

6. Good standard of education including English and Mathematics at GCSE Grade 4-9 (or equivalent) OR Demonstrable experience in the points below
7. Experience of using Spreadsheets and Database/systems to accurately input information, update records and extract data.
8. Good numeracy skills with excellent attention to detail.
9. Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to handle and respond to customer queries to a high standard
10. Good organisational skills, with an ability to work in a team and prioritise work ensuring that deadlines are met
11. A willingness to be flexible, learn and undertake a variety of different tasks
