Job Overview
The Mental Health Services department is recruiting a Medical Secretary to support Consultant Psychiatrists and associated medical staff in providing outreach clinics across Argyll and Bute. The position involves comprehensive secretarial, administrative, and patient coordination services.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide secretarial and administrative support to medical staff and patients.
* Manage patient information systems (TrakCare PMS, SciStore, etc.) and maintain accurate records.
* Coordinate appointment scheduling, travel arrangements, and correspondence.
* Cover for other secretaries during annual or sick leave periods.
* Work 21 hours over 4 days and support outreach clinics as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Significant experience in a medical secretarial role with high-level office practices.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, e‑mail, hospital intranet, and other patient information systems.
* Typing speed of at least 60 words per minute.
* Knowledge of medical terminology and the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 is an advantage.
* Excellent organisational, communication and problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
