About the Role
Our Energy Networks team within the Energy unit is looking for a Senior Principal Project Manager to lead energy infrastructure design and advisory projects, supporting clients in the transition to decarbonisation across the UK and Europe. You will play a key role in improving project management processes and driving delivery excellence.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Deliver Project Management for complex transmission & distribution projects including feasibility, FEED and detailed design.
* Deliver project scope to time, quality and cost.
* Build and manage strong relationships with senior client representatives and internal stakeholders.
* Establish effective communication across multidisciplinary project delivery teams.
* Take the lead on problem solving and decision making.
* Control internal and external commercial aspects of the project under the contract arrangements.
* Manage risk to the business and to the client.
* Work effectively on several projects concurrently to deliver to tight deadlines.
Candidate Specification
* Relevant engineering or project management degree or proven experience in project management of energy sector projects.
* Proven success in the delivery of Transmission or Distribution design projects, working for a designer, contractor, or major industry client within the energy sector.
* Experience in project management, multidisciplinary team management, excellent communication skills.
* Experience of managing contract administration, ideally NEC contract forms.
* Knowledge of change management, risk management, schedule and cost management, and all other aspects of project management.
* Ability to make complex decisions, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to, accepting responsibility for own actions.
* Creating a work environment that promotes health, safety and wellbeing.
* Previous experience in electrical infrastructure projects (e.g., Owner’s Engineer, Lender’s Engineer).
* Experience of CDM 2015 Regulations.
* Appreciation of the commercial aspects of project work including contract terms.
* Ability to adapt and work on multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
* Collaborative skills: ability to work with cross‑functional teams from various backgrounds.
Preferred but Not Essential
* Experience within the Transmission and Distribution sector.
* Experience across all stages of the project lifecycle.
* Relevant PM qualifications (e.g., PMQ, Prince2).
