You will work with the existing engineering team and help contribute to the direction of the project and team. The existing team is a product team building backend for a user-facing product. You will help understand, analyze technical problems, address performance issues, and assist with legacy migrations when necessary. You need to be able to understand and troubleshoot data-intensive systems.
Engage in organizational processes such as planning, backlog refinement, and sprint reviews to ensure effective collaboration and feedback. Collaborate with product managers and designers to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Proactively identify and address potential technical issues and bottlenecks.
The following skills are necessary for this role:
* System design: A good understanding of how systems work, focusing on latency and scalability.
* Development: Our systems are mainly in Python and Go. We are migrating some endpoints from Python to Go. Skills in testing, SOLID principles, and design patterns are essential.
* Systems architecture: We extensively use Kubernetes, Kafka, Postgres, with internal tools for metrics and alerting, and Grafana for dashboards. Redis is used in some services.
* Work cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering teams to execute product and business strategies and build innovative products and features.
* Communicate effectively within the team and across disciplines. Work closely with product managers and designers to craft compelling user experiences.
* Participate in product reviews and team meetings, providing technical insights. Help scope, estimate, and prioritize tasks considering conflicting needs.
