About the Company
Our client is a well-established, industry-leading civils and groundworks contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across the region. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are looking to recruit a Buyer to support their busy commercial and operations teams.
Role Overview
As a Buyer, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of projects by procuring materials, plant, and services essential for groundworks operations. You will work closely with site and commercial teams to ensure cost efficiency, supply chain reliability, and timely deliveries to site.
Key Responsibilities
* Procure materials, plant, and subcontracted services for groundworks projects.
* Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve best value and ensure a reliable supply chain.
* Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accurate records and compliance with company policies.
* Liaise with site and commercial teams to forecast requirements and align procurement with project schedules.
* Monitor supplier performance, costs, and delivery reliability, resolving issues proactively.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with supply chain partners.
* Support the commercial team in delivering projects on time and within budget.
Key Requirements
* Previous experience in a Buyer or Procurement role, ideally within civils, construction, or groundworks.
* Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness.
* Ability to manage multiple suppliers and orders in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office and purchasing systems.
* A proactive, organised, and detail-focused approach.
