This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our journey as a Lead Design Engineer (Protection & Control) to develop and deliver engineering solutions for transmission networks (132kV and above).
What you’ll be doing
* Responsible for basic and detailed engineering of projects from concept to commissioning; the development of technical specifications, tender evaluations, drawings and settings & configurations.
* Support the development of pre-contract design and delivery of projects by leading/supporting the technical aspects.
* Assess engineering documentation, feasibility and compliance with business requirements and support the preparation of accurate budgets for new projects.
* Ensure adherence to current legislation, policies and operational requirements.
* Provide technical support to the Project team and site/ construction teams.
* Responsible for engineering documentation following quality processes to meet deliverables for PQP’s and BETTA.
* Assist with evaluation and apply ‘new ideas’, technical developments, new equipment and alternative working methods to provide cost savings, efficiencies and improved safety, reflected in review of policies and standards.
What you’ll bring
* Degree in an Engineering discipline with relevant experience.
* Chartered Engineer Status (or working towards).
* Good inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with other individuals, departments and businesses.
* Ability to implement, apply and promote CDM and Health & Safety best practice in a design environment.
* Having the ability to investigate and understand technical characteristics of substation plant and associated equipment.
* An understanding in terms of the plant and equipment deployed for transmission networks and how it is operated / maintained.
* Experience in the implementation of new technologies and engineering solutions to achieve reductions in project lifetime costs.
* Proven experience in a responsible position and knowledge in one or more of the following areas at voltages from 33kV to 400kV: Protection, Substation & Network Control, Automation, Telecommunication and/or Metering.
