Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Medicine Directorate for two Elective and Diagnostic Booking Officers to support the opening of the new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at Upton Hospital. This is a permanent, full-time position primarily based at Upton Hospital, although the post holder may be required to work cross‑site at Wexham Park Hospital as and when required to meet service demands. We are looking for an approachable, motivated, and patient-focused individual who embodies our Trust values and is committed to delivering an exceptional standard of service to both patients and colleagues.
This is a busy and fast‑paced role that demands excellent organisational and multitasking abilities, along with the capacity to remain calm and effective under pressure. The post holder will play a vital role in coordinating elective and diagnostic appointments, ensuring patient pathways are managed smoothly, efficiently, and in line with service requirements. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively are essential. The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and keen to develop within a supportive and dynamic administrative team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for booking appointments primarily for services based at Upton Hospital and will be based on‑site at Upton Hospital. On rare occasions, and in line with service needs, they may be required to work from Wexham Park Hospital as per the service needs. They will play an active role in the implementation and ongoing monitoring of both new and existing appointment systems and will support the team in meeting Trust targets. Good customer service skills are required when dealing with patients and with internal and external staff.

Qualifications
* GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade C / 4 or above) or equivalent qualification
Experience
* Experience of working in a hospital or busy office environment.
* Significant experience in difficult patient situations.
* Some customer care experience.
Skills and Knowledge
* Good communication skills both verbal and in writing.
* Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy when completing tasks.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Ability to work using own initiative.
* Excellent customer service skills and evidence of dealing with telephones and meeting targets.
* Ability to act on own initiative, assessing problems and queries and understanding which can be resolved and which can be passed on.
Additional preferences
* NVQ Level 2 Administration or equivalent practical knowledge.
* Call centre experience.
* NHS experience.
* Good knowledge of NHS targets.
* Knowledge of clinical and surgical procedures.
