Job Overview Tes is supporting the appointment of a Deputy Head (Academic) to join a school based in Blackheath, London. The school is looking for a creative and forward-thinking school leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Deputy Head (Academic). This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the School’s next chapter and to build on a period of exceptional academic achievement. As Deputy Head (Academic), you will work closely with the Head to implement the School’s ambitious strategic vision, while assuming overall responsibility for the academic life of the School. With students celebrating the best GCSE results in the School’s history in 2025, this is a period of real momentum. Building on this success, you will provide dynamic leadership to the Academic Team, creating a culture of innovation, enrichment and achievement in teaching and learning. They are looking for an outstanding leader with substantial experience of curriculum leadership and management, likely gained in a senior position such as Head of Department, Assistant Head, or Key Stage Co-ordinator. You will be a compelling ambassador for the school, drawing on your outstanding communication skills to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, parents, alumni and other stakeholders. The ideal start date is 5th January 2026, although they are able to offer flexibility for the right candidate, with alternative start dates in April or September 2026.
