SEMH Support Role – Secondary Setting (Ages 11–16)
Bideford | £90–£100 per day
We are working with a specialist secondary provision in Bideford that supports young people aged 11–16 who have experienced trauma and display challenging behaviour linked to SEMH needs.
This setting provides a structured, therapeutic environment with small class sizes, high staff-to-student ratios and a strong focus on emotional regulation, relationships, and re-engagement with learning. Students often present with complex needs, so consistency, calmness and resilience are key.
The role:
Supporting students both in and out of the classroom
Helping to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using trauma-informed approaches
Building positive, trusting relationships with young people who may be disengaged from education
Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support progress and emotional wellbeing
We’re looking for someone who:
Has proven experience working with SEMH, trauma, or challenging behaviour
Remains calm, patient and consistent in high-pressure situations
Is confident setting boundaries while maintaining a nurturing approach
Has experience in alternative provision, SEMH schools, youth work, care, or similar settings (desirable)
This is a rewarding role for someone who wants to make a real impact on young people who need stability, understanding and strong adult role models.
Pay: £90–£100 per day
