Fostering Team Manager – Durham County Council Description Durham County Council is seeking an experienced Fostering Team Manager to lead and support a dedicated team of fostering social workers. Based in Seaham, this role offers the opportunity to make a real difference by ensuring foster carers receive the highest level of support and that the service continues to meet statutory and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with a Social Work Consultant (acting as a deputy manager) to provide professional oversight, guidance, and quality assurance. This is a hybrid role; however, due to the nature of the service, regular office-based work in Seaham is required. Responsibilities Manage and support a team of fostering social workers. Oversee the regulatory compliance of approved mainstream foster carers across the South of the County. Ensure statutory requirements and fostering standards are consistently met. Provide leadership and supervision to maintain high-quality practice and performance within the service. Work collaboratively with colleagues, carers, and partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people. Monitor and support quality assurance and performance frameworks across the team. Requirements Qualified Social Worker with registration to Social Work England. Proven management or supervisory experience within fostering or children’s social care. Strong knowledge of statutory requirements, fostering regulations, and safeguarding practice. Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid capacity, with office-based presence in Seaham.
