Service Manager – Materials Handling
Location: West Midlands
An established and growing materials handling business is looking to appoint an experienced Service Manager to take full ownership of its aftersales operation.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role. You’ll be accountable for engineers, customers, performance and profit.
The Role
You will lead the service function across maintenance, breakdowns, LOLER, parts coordination and customer delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
* Full management of the service engineering team (field and workshop)
* Driving engineer productivity, utilisation and first-time fix rates
* Ensuring SLAs are met and customer issues are resolved decisively
* Managing service contracts, renewals and escalations
* Working closely with Sales and Parts to maximise aftersales revenue
* Enforcing H&S, compliance, training and performance standards
What We’re Looking For
* Proven Service Manager (or Senior Service Supervisor ready to step up)
* Background in materials handling / forklifts / powered access / plant
* Strong people manager – you can lead engineers, not just manage diaries
* Commercially sharp: understands margins, recovery and contract value
* Excellent People Skills - Comfortable dealing with Customers, Staff & Stakeholders
* Organised, decisive and resilient under pressure
