Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist - 2 Posts — Special Interest in Benign Gynae surgery/outpatient operative Gynaecology/Urogynaecology. Two opportunities have arisen to work in one of the largest Women’s Health Services in Scotland. NHS Lanarkshire is seeking to recruit two skilled and dynamic consultants to join our award-winning Obstetrics and Gynaecology team. We are conveniently located in central Scotland with access to Glasgow, Edinburgh, the Highlands and the Borders.
The vacancies are based at University Hospital Wishaw, which provides all inpatient obstetric and gynaecological care for the population of Lanarkshire. Maternity day care services are provided at University Hospitals Hairmyres and Monklands, and antenatal care is provided at numerous community Health Centres throughout the county. Approximately 4,300 deliveries occur per year in the Maternity Unit. You will join a team of 24 Consultants. In-patient gynaecology is based at Wishaw with outpatient clinics, including operative hysteroscopy at Hairmyres and Monklands.
The precise job plans will be tailored to the skills of the successful applicant. Proposals for additional SPA time from applicants are encouraged. In addition to the 1 PA for Non-DCC/SPA activities, the Board supports applications for additional SPA time from individuals with well-developed ideas for improving services and a commitment to quality improvement, patient safety (including human factors training), Medical Education, Research & Development, acting as an Appraiser, etc. Applicants who are able to demonstrate commitment to any of the above or other areas and wishing to commence on more than 1 PA for SPA duties should discuss proposals with the identified Recruitment Lead and/or Service Manager who will consider the request in line with the successful candidate’s professional and service requirements.
