Overview
The School of Computer Science and Engineering at Bangor University offers accredited courses recognized by professional bodies such as the British Computer Society and the Institution of Engineering and Technology. The Project
The project involves exploring the properties of molten salts using advanced modeling and experimental techniques, including ML models, DFT calculations, MD simulations, and CALPHAD modeling, with a focus on the extended LiCl-NaCl-KCl-RbCl-CsCl system and related salts.
Purpose of the Job
We seek a Post-doctoral Research Associate to conduct high-temperature experiments on molten salts and support CALPHAD modeling, particularly in filtration and solid oxide removal processes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Lead research on molten salts, develop process controls, and design tests.
* Support physical measurements with CALPHAD modeling.
* Manage workload and meet deadlines.
* Coordinate with project partners and contribute to broader research activities.
* Disseminate research findings through reports and publications.
* Analyze data and perform computer-based simulations.
* Present results and provide recommendations.
* Mentor research students.
* Procure supplies and manage project resources.
* Participate in knowledge exchange activities and administrative tasks.
* Travel internationally as needed.

Person Specification
Qualifications/Training
* Essential: PhD in Science or Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Desirable: Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Experience/Knowledge
* Experience with molten salt experiments and rig building.
* Knowledge of solid state characterization techniques.
* Desirable: Research outputs, teaching experience, research income generation.
Skills/Abilities
* Analytical skills, data analysis, and presentation skills.
* Workload prioritization and effective communication.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
