SEMH Teaching Assistant needed - Step Teachers
Location: Oldham | Start Date: ASAP September 2025 | Salary: £95/day (PAYE) | Full-Time, Monday-Friday (8:30am-3:30pm)
We are working with a highly regarded specialist secondary school in Oldham, dedicated to supporting young people with a range of additional needs, including Autism, learning difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. This is an entry-level opportunity for aspiring professionals looking to gain specialist experience in SEN education.
If you have studied Psychology and have at least 3 months of hands-on experience working with children or young people, this is your chance to put theory into practice in a meaningful, rewarding way.
The Opportunity
* Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH, Autism, and other learning needs.
* Helping learners develop essential social, emotional, and behavioural skills alongside academic support.
* Using positive behaviour strategies, preventative techniques, and de-escalation where needed.
* Collaborating with teachers, support staff, families, and external professionals like educational psychologists and social workers.
* Supporting a safe, inclusive, and structured environment that nurtures student wellbeing and personal growth.

What You'll Need
* An up-to-date CV with 10-year work history.
* At least 3 months of verifiable experience working with children or young people.
* Right to work in the UK and proof of address.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
* Two professional references covering the last 2 years.
* A proactive, reliable, and empathetic nature.
* Overseas Police Check if applicable.
