Gretna Nursery
Gretna Nursery is seeking a Nursery Nurse to fill a vacancy. You will be required to work 36 hours per week (5 days) 39 weeks per year, hours to be discussed at interview.
Gretna Nursery caters for children aged 2-5 years old. We strive to provide an enriching, nurturing environment both indoors and outdoors to promote children's independence and curiosity.
Applicants should be educated to SCQF level 7 in Social Services, Children & Young People, HNC Childhood Practice, or equivalent. We seek someone adaptable to meet the educational and social needs of pupils in our Nursery and who will actively contribute to our staff team. The successful candidate will demonstrate professional skills, knowledge, and understanding. Responsibilities include implementing curriculum development within our nursery class, following school policies on learning, including pupil assessment, and collaborating with staff, colleagues, and parents.
Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Nursery settings may operate between 8.00am – 6.00pm, and working patterns will be aligned with service needs.
This is a fixed-term position for up to 12 months to cover maternity leave.
This position may be suitable for secondment; approval from your Line Manager is required prior to application.
Applicants must hold a relevant qualification enabling registration with The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as Practitioner of Day Care Children’s Services without conditions. All successful applicants will be required to register with the SSSC within 3 months.
This role involves Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG update check before employment.
Applicants previously residing outside the UK within the last 5 years will need to provide a police record check from the relevant authorities in their country of residence.
