About The Team
Our Pensions Administration business is growing. We are seeking an experienced Pensions Administration Manager to join our Bristol office with hybrid working. This role suits someone with substantial experience in a Pensions Manager role, strong knowledge of DB pension schemes, pension legislation, and experience managing a portfolio of clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading the provision of pensions administration services for the assigned XPS Administration client portfolio.
* Overseeing day-to-day management of client relationships with trustees and corporate clients, and participating in trustee and client meetings where applicable.
* Participating in XPS Administrations marketing initiatives, new business activities, attending pitches and company events. Seeking opportunities to generate additional income from existing client portfolio.
* Providing expert advice and consultative solutions to pensions queries; keeping abreast of technical and legislative developments within the pensions industry.
* Overseeing project management of annual and ad-hoc projects (renewals, benefit statements, pension increases, scheme returns, trustees reports and accounts). Ensuring projects are monitored and completed in line with customer and legislation requirements.
* Mentoring less experienced colleagues in the team.
* Managing admin billing with Operations Manager and/or Client Manager; ensuring time is billed or accrued by monthly deadline, chargeable work is recorded and billed promptly, and invoices are issued and paid on time.
* Presenting technical matters at team meetings.
* Leading non-client activities, conducting internal audits, identifying improvements in processes, quality, and governance tracking measures, and updating them promptly.
* Responsible for total workflow management of the team.
* Identifying team objectives and implementing appropriate actions in line with business needs.
* Contributing to regular management meetings and communicating decisions regarding working practices, resourcing, efficiencies and staff communications.
* Formal staff management responsibilities including appraisals, objective setting, HR matters, performance management and recruitment activities as required.
* Building strong relationships with internal and external departments to provide a total service to clients (e.g., Pensions Accounts, Payroll, Administration Consulting and Business Support).
* Ensuring accurate time recording for chargeable and non-chargeable activities to meet utilisation and recovery targets and reporting to senior management by exception.
Your Profile
Essential:
* Previous pensions administration experience of Defined Benefit schemes including leavers, retirements, deaths, transfers, monthly processing and investment, benefit statements, scheme renewal and pension increases. Applications will be considered on an individual basis.
* Thorough knowledge of the pensions legislation framework and ability to stay informed of changes.
* Previous supervisory, leadership and management experience including performance monitoring and recruitment.
* Third-party pensions administration experience preferred, though strong in-house experience will be considered.
* Presentational experience to assist with client pitches and trustee meetings is desirable.
* A numerical aptitude demonstrated through work or academic achievements.
* Previous project management experience for pension administration project work.
* IT proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint.
