Your Role: Counsel – Complex Transactions
We’re looking for a future team member to join our Legal team in either Manchester or London. In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
* Structure, draft, and negotiate: Handle a variety of complex transaction documents, including technology procurement agreements (e.g., SaaS and cloud), outsourced (ITO and BPO), managed service agreements, and technology-related partnership agreements.
* Provide practical counsel: Understand business strategies and goals, effectively communicating legal issues and solutions while supporting the development of commercial contract documentation.
* Liaise with stakeholders: Collaborate with senior BNY Mellon stakeholders to ensure awareness and escalation of issues as they arise.
* Maintain compliance: Assist in improving contract templates and review checklists to align with BNY Mellon standards amidst a dynamic regulatory environment.
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
* Legal Degree: Several years of experience as a practicing attorney, particularly in structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex technology procurement agreements.
* Knowledge of cybersecurity: Basic understanding of technology controls, information security, data privacy, and protection.
* Regulatory knowledge: Familiarity with financial services regulations and guidance on outsourcing and third-party relationships.
* Global privacy laws: Understanding of laws such as GDPR, GLBA, and CCPA is preferred.
* Self-motivated: Ability to work autonomously and as part of a global team.
* Strong skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, drafting, and communication skills.
* Legal technology experience: Familiarity with contract lifecycle management tools is a plus.
