Purpose of the Financial Controller Role:
Our client is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead the finance team and oversee all financial operations. The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and provide strategic support to senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities for a Financial Controller:
1. Key member of the senior leadership team, reporting to the MD and parent company.
2. Lead, appraise, and develop the finance team.
3. Drive continuous improvement and support cross-functional finance projects.
4. Prepare monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts.
5. Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
6. Upload financial data and commentary to the parent company via HFM (or similar ERP).
7. Monitor cashflow and oversee transactional finance (AP, AR, credit control).
8. Ensure accurate payroll, VAT, Intrastat, and HMRC reporting.
9. Maintain robust internal controls and ensure compliance with UK GAAP and group standards.
10. Liaise with auditors and support financial year-end processes.
11. Deliver KPI, cost, margin, and ad hoc financial analysis to support decision-making.
