We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join our integrated substance misuse recovery team. The role is based on the Therapeutic Community at HMP Wymott and will primarily involve the delivery of psychosocial group work and managing a caseload of patients residing on this unit.

Join the Recovery Team and empower those who wish to make changes in their behaviour to promote health and well‑being through recovery from drugs and alcohol. This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients and delivering outstanding care.

Hours – This is a full‑time role, 37.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 8.30‑4.30pm.

Salary – £29,264 – £33,510 per annum, depending on experience.


Responsibilities

* Maintain a caseload of patients, working closely with them to deliver support, 1‑1 sessions, and advice on relapse prevention, triggers, and other relevant issues.
* Deliver psychosocial group sessions across the substance misuse service.
* Carry out duty work, including reception duties, seeing new patients and conducting assessments.
* Provide outstanding care to psychosocial patients, listening to and acting on their feedback to ensure care is personalised and tailored to the individual.
* Provide a programme of psychosocial interventions.
* Offer information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood‑borne viruses, and safe sex practices.


Qualifications & Experience

* Relevant experience within substance misuse – in the community, hospital, or a secure setting.
* Experience working within a multi‑disciplinary framework (housing, social care, health care, and mental health pathways) is a bonus.
* Knowledge or experience of SMART (Solution‑Oriented Brief Therapy) and running group sessions and 1‑1s is helpful.
* Having a relevant qualification or equivalent experience.
* Legal right to work in the UK. Due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
