Job Summary The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Job Description The Assistant Corps Treasurer works under the supervision of the Corps Treasurer but is directly responsible to the Corps Secretary for ensuring all non-public Corps accounts are accurate and balanced. You will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the Corps accounts, including, maintaining day books and cash books, receiving and recording payments, cashing up the museum shop and updating financial database pages. The Assistant Corps Treasurer is the first point of contact for administration relating to REME Adventurous and Enterprising Activities Committee (RAEAC) grant applications. Main Responsibilities Will Include: Banking - Carry out the payment of all invoices received into the treasurer’s office within the payment deadline. Process all incomings and outgoings on the Day Books, Cash Books and computer system. Duties include: Cashing Cheques. Ensure all cheques payable to the Corps Treasury are paid into the bank and log the details into the manual accounting system or where appropriate onto the transitional computerised systems. Issue cash and cheque received as and when requested Issuing Payments. Ensure all payments received to the treasury are processed. Ensure all payments are signed off by the correct signatories and all documents are logged on the appropriate systems Reconciliation. Ensure all accounts are reconciled at the end of each calendar month, assist the Corps treasurer when required to complete the end of year reconciliation RAEAC Admin - Act as the focal point for RAEAC administration; seek advice from the Corps Artificer Seargeant Major when required.
