Overview

Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) is introducing nursing care within our Transitional Care Service, spanning the Queen's Medical Centre (QMC) and Nottingham City Hospital campuses. We are looking for enthusiastic and compassionate Band 5 Neonatal Transitional Care Nurses to join us on this exciting journey, shaping the future of care for babies and their families.

Working within the maternity and neonatal services at NUH offers the opportunity to be part of one of the UKs largest teaching hospital trusts, known for excellence and innovation in care. NUH supports over 8,000 births annually across QMC and City Hospital, offering diverse facilities including midwifery-led units, a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and home birth services. The trust provides professional development through tailored training, mentorship, and research opportunities.

Enquiries and roles via NUH recruitment. NMC Registration (Adult or Children's Nurse) and an interest in neonatal care are required; further training will be provided.


Responsibilities

* Be part of the development of a neonatal transitional care service and deliver high-quality care to neonates requiring ongoing support outside traditional neonatal intensive and postnatal care.
* Work across two units: QMC and Nottingham City campuses.
* Provide family-integrated care and support parents to build confidence in caring for their babies.
* Contribute to service development and work with a multidisciplinary team committed to innovation and excellence.
* Deliver comprehensive training and development opportunities through tailored neonatal courses and mentorship.
* Support flexible working options to maintain work–life balance.
* Operate in state-of-the-art facilities within a leading teaching hospital.

Qualifications

* NMC Registration (Adult or Children's Nurse).
* Experience in neonatal care (further training will be provided).
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Competent in giving IV medications.
* Competent, or willing to gain competence, to take peripheral blood samples.
* Experience of supervising non-registered staff.
* Commitment to delivering high-quality, family-centred care.
* Ability to prioritise and delegate workload.
* Able to manage a caseload of patients.
* Enthusiastic and motivated.
