The role:
Join the team to play a pivotal role in the commercial management of diverse civil engineering projects. Your responsibilities will encompass everything from preparing tender and contract documents to managing the financial aspects of projects. You'll be instrumental in procuring the best supply chain, assessing commercial risks, and ensuring the financial compensation for completed work is timely and accurate.
Key Responsibilities
* Conducting comprehensive feasibility studies and project estimates, spanning from initial concepts to tender submission.
* Preparing accurate sales quotations, bills of quantities, and price schedules.
* Crafting detailed tender documents for both private and public sector contracts, including tender evaluations and project reviews.
* Assisting in the overall project management by providing support in project controls, management, and commercial aspects.
* Procuring goods, services, and subcontractors while managing labor and material costs.
* Analyzing construction plans to accurately forecast methods, materials, and schedules.
* Implementing stringent cost control measures and performing financial analyses.
* Executing on-site measurements and valuations, ensuring work packages are accurately captured and agreed upon.
* Monitoring project expenditures and managing post-contract administration tasks such as change control and payment applications.
* Managing project cash flows, conducting cost-value reconciliations, and providing performance coaching to junior staff.
* Collaborating effectively with team members across divisions, maintaining professional client relationships, and upholding company values and procedures.
Requirements
* A minimum of a 2:2 degree in Quantity Surveying or a closely related field.
* Chartered Membership of RICS or equivalent, or working towards it.
* At least 5 years of experience in a Quantity Surveying role, with experience in utilities, infrastructure or civil engineering
* Demonstrated ability to work to the highest standards with a solid understanding of business processes and industry-specific IT systems.
* Strong analytical skills, forward-thinking, and the ability to make timely decisions.
* Excellent numerical, communication, and organizational skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
* A team player who is also capable of working independently and willing to travel as needed.
